Every time a deal closes, a form gets submitted, or a row is added to a spreadsheet, someone on your team is probably opening a template, filling it in, exporting a PDF, and emailing it. That takes five minutes. Multiply it by fifty transactions a week and you’ve got a part-time job that nobody signed up for.
Zapier lets you skip all of that. Connect DocuQueue once, build a Zap, and PDFs generate themselves — from invoices to contracts to certificates — the moment the trigger fires.
What DocuQueue does on Zapier

DocuQueue exposes two actions in Zapier’s app directory:
Convert URL to PDF
Point DocuQueue at any live URL and get back a formatted PDF. Use this when the page you want to capture already exists — a web receipt, a dashboard view, a report preview.
Zapier action fields:
- URL — the page to convert
- Paper format — A4, Letter, or custom dimensions
- API key — your DocuQueue key
Fill template with data
Send structured data to one of DocuQueue’s six built-in templates (invoice, contract, certificate, letter, report, shipping label) and get back a finished PDF. No HTML required — just map your fields.
Zapier action fields:
- Template — which template to use
- Data fields — map values from the trigger step (e.g., customer name, line items, dates)
- API key — your DocuQueue key
Workflows that run themselves

The combination of DocuQueue + Zapier turns any trigger into a PDF generation event. Here are the ones teams use most:
Invoice from every Stripe payment
Trigger: Stripe — New Payment
Action: DocuQueue — Fill template (invoice)
Action: Gmail — Send email with PDF attached
No more remembering to send invoices after each sale. The PDF generates and sends the moment payment clears.
Contract from a Google Form submission
Trigger: Google Forms — New Form Response
Action: DocuQueue — Fill template (contract)
Action: Slack — Send channel message with PDF link
New client signs up through a form? Their contract is ready before you even see the submission.
Certificate on course completion
Trigger: Teachable — Lesson Completed
Action: DocuQueue — Fill template (certificate)
Action: Gmail — Send certificate to student
Every completion triggers a personalized certificate — no manual export.
Webhook-driven batch generation
Trigger: Webhook — POST request
Action: DocuQueue — Fill template (report)
Action: Google Drive — Upload PDF to folder
Any system that can send a webhook — your CRM, a custom app, a CI/CD pipeline — can trigger PDF generation without writing a single line of integration code.
Landing page snapshot on form fill
Trigger: Typeform — New Response
Action: DocuQueue — Convert URL to PDF
Action: Dropbox — Save PDF
Capture a screenshot of a campaign page or landing page every time someone fills out a lead capture form.
Setting it up
We’ve built a ready-to-use Zap that handles the full flow — trigger, template fill, status check, and PDF download. Start from the template, then customize the trigger for your use case.
Use the Zapier workflow template →
Once you’ve copied the Zap to your account, you’ll need to update four placeholders:
- Sign up for DocuQueue — docuqueue.com/register, free tier with 50 credits/month
- Create a template in DocuQueue and copy the template ID
- Update the Zap — four spots to configure:
- Step 2 (Code) — just for reference, no edits needed
- Step 3 (Webhook POST) — replace
YOUR_DOCUQUEUE_TEMPLATE_IDandYOUR_DOCUQUEUE_API_KEY - Step 5 (Webhook GET status) — replace
YOUR_DOCUQUEUE_API_KEY - Step 6 (Webhook GET download) — replace
YOUR_DOCUQUEUE_API_KEY
That’s it. Four values, one template, and the Zap handles the rest — no code, no browser install, no server to manage.
Why not just use a PDF library?
If PDF generation is a side feature of your app, sure — a Python library works. But when it’s part of a workflow — triggered by events across different apps, routed through different tools, running unattended — you don’t want to own the rendering pipeline. You want to point a Zap at a template and move on.
DocuQueue handles the browser, the rendering, the fonts, the page breaks. Zapier handles the triggers, the routing, the delivery. You handle the parts that actually need your attention.
FAQ
How do I generate a PDF in Zapier?
Add the DocuQueue app to your Zap, choose the Create Document event, connect your account with your API key, then point the action at a DocuQueue template and map your trigger data to the template’s merge fields. When the Zap runs, the action returns the finished PDF as a file or a hosted URL.
Does Zapier generate PDFs on its own?
No. Zapier has no native PDF generation. You either fill and export a Google Docs template across several steps, or use a dedicated document app like DocuQueue that does it in a single action.
Can I generate a PDF in Zapier without code?
Yes. With DocuQueue you describe the template in plain English and map fields through Zapier’s field picker. There’s no code and no developer involved at any point.
How do I add my data to the PDF?
Put a JSON object in the Template Data field with a value for each merge field in your template. The simplest way is to copy the sample JSON from the Data tab in the DocuQueue editor, then replace the static values with fields from a prior step in your Zap.
Can I email or store the generated PDF?
Yes. Choose the File output and the PDF comes back as a binary file. Any later Zapier step that accepts a file, such as Gmail, Outlook, Google Drive, Dropbox or Slack, can pick it up directly.
How much does it cost?
